It was exactly a year ago when Wrath launched and brought with it all the joys of a new expansion: a clean slate, brand new zones, quests, dungeons, and raids, and even a new (overpowered) class. But it was also a tough time for CD - our leadership was changing, and some of our longtime members had moved on for good. Many were afraid that the guild they'd come to know and love would no longer be the same. It's hard to believe that it was under a year ago when all of us newbies had our first officer meeting, and were trying to figure out how to hold the guild together.
But look at how far we've come. For the first few months of Wrath, just the thought of trying to put together a Guild 25-man Naxx was outlandish. Now we're at the point where we've cleared the current (normal mode) content so many times that we're sick of it. You could argue that right now CD is better than ever. It's definitely a different dynamic than when I joined the guild three summers ago, but we have a good mix of old and new blood that fit well together, and our skill level is top-notch. When the content becomes stale it's the people that keeps us coming back, and that speaks volumes about our current membership.
Even though Meth is the one who gets to wield the legendary, it's something that all of us as a guild can be proud of. Fewer than 15% of guilds have defeated Yogg+3, but presumably far less (approx 3%) of guilds have put in the time and effort to craft a Val'anyr. In the spirit of the season as well as the occasion, I think this is an excellent time to say thank you...
...to those of you who stuck with us through the thick and thin. We would have gone our separate ways 9 months ago if not for every one of you.
...to those of you who reactivated and came back. I find myself more excited when I see an old friend log on than when we take down a new boss.
...to those of you who are new to the guild but have made your mark. You are the future.
...to those of you who don't play WoW anymore but still keep in touch. It's good enough to know that you're around, and please forgive us for nagging you to come back.
...to the other officers and Pease for doing a great job, keeping my stress level down, and being my friends.

I think Niko pretty much covered it, but I need to offer my heartfelt thanks for sticking with it for so long. Getting Val'anyr had nothing to do with me, but everything to do with an awesome guild effort. I can't imagine being in any other guild or hope for a better bunch of people to play and hang with. May Protection of Ancient Kings lead us to many more successes!
